There was a birthday cake for the humans and cat treats for the cats. The other cats didn't object to wearing a birthday hat, but he just flat out refused. Of course there were presents and he had the most fun unwrapping them. He absolutely loves the bows and the rattling sounds that the paper makes when he tears it. All of his gifts were useful and fun. He loved everything!
He, (like all of our cats) is very spoiled and you know the cat who has everything wants (deserves) more. Among his gifts was a new soft cushy bed, lots of packages of cat treats, some of his favorite cat food, a big jar of catnip and last but certainly not least, a variety of cat toys.
The guest of honor is a bit lazy. His motto is 'if you don't have to do it, then don't'. Why waste all that energy when you can get someone else to do things. In some ways, cats are just like children. Sometimes a little child psychology needs to be applied to a fur baby! He loves cat treats but refuses to do tricks to get them. One of his presents was a cat treat ball. A cat toy that makes him work for his snack. A colorful ball that you put cat treats in. When the ball is rolled a treat falls out for a tasty snack. Perfect for a lazy cat that loves treats. At first, he wasn't too interested in playing with the treat ball, but once he figured out that by batting it around he could easily gobble up the cat cookies that fell out of the ball, presto, a perfect gift for a cat that prefers to eat and sleep instead of exercising.
All in all, everyone enjoyed his party. The other cats got to play with the paper and bows and share in the fun of his new toys. At the end of the day when it was time to clean up and put things away, the guest of honor was found testing out his new bed and yes, the treat ball was empty of cat treats. Cats need to run and play to remain healthy and happy. If the treat ball encourages him to get regular exercise, the calories from those treats won't add up to additional pounds
