It Is Simple To Feed Your Cat The Healthiest Cat Food Possible

Expert Author M. Tracy Robinson
Many well-meaning folks have fed raw food to their cats, only to see their loved cats get really sick. Salmonella, bacteria, mold, and other things can fester inside the lining of the stomach and cause serious problems, even painful death. It's for that reason, in my opinion, that raw foods should be avoided, even if there are advocates that say raw is safe. Freezing does not kill Salmonella.

There are a lot of lesser quality cat foods that are sitting on grocery store shelves, for who knows how long. Be sure to read the labels and learn about what you are feeding your cat. You want to avoid heavily processed foods. Foods processed with fillers such as corn, wheat and soy have no nutritional value at all and are hard on your loved cats digestive system. Lesser quality foods and treats will have a major impact on your cat's health. A lot of food that is not high quality cat food has toxic and even deadly chemicals as preservatives.

Do not waste your money on lower quality products. They will not only prove to be inefficient at delivering the right formula of nutrients that your pampered cats need but can also contain ingredients that will prove deadly. People who try to save money on their loved cat's food see that it can become extremely expensive; not only in huge Vet bills and toxic medications but also seeing their loved kitty sick and in pain. You as a cat lover don't want that for your cats.

If you aren't quite sure what to buy, find dry and wet foods that have appropriate healthy cat food formulations, with fresh, nutritious ingredients that will enhance your loved cat's lives. Wet food is good for the moisture that is essential for cats. You want to feed nutritious cat food and treats. Look for high quality protein like chicken meal, eggs, catfish or turkey meal. Meal means the water is taken out which makes the protein concentrated.

Make sure the labels tell you what type of meat and fat sources are in the products. Don't ever buy cat food with meat byproducts. There is a couple of things wrong with this. First, you don't ever want byproducts in your cat's food and treats. Byproducts are inedible parts of an animal. It could be hooves, feathers, beaks, bone and more. Also, you want to know the specific animal your cat's fat and protein come from. If the label reads meat, that could be any meat, including road kill, dead and diseased euthanized animals. You can have peace of mind knowing your cat is eating easily digestible proteins that are nutritious specific for your cat's dietary needs.
